| Metros down Ames in consolation |

URBANDALE, Iowa - Kevin Lohry scored three goals while leading the Sioux City Metros to a 7-4 win over Ames during consolation round action at the Iowa High School Hockey League state tournament Saturday morning. Lohry scored both of Sioux City’s two goals in the first period. Twenty-six seconds after his unassisted goal, he took advantage of an assist from Scott Marsh and Alex Lukehart to give the Metros a 2-0 lead at the 12:26 mark. Sioux City (21-9-1-1) built up its lead to 6-0 on second period goals from Lohry, Chaz Berglin and Daniel Limoges. Ames pulled within 6-1 on Alex Kuuttila’s unassisted goal at the 19:56 mark of the second period. Kuuttila also provided three goals for the Little Cyclones, two of which were scored in the third period. Teammate D.J. Stickfort pulled Ames within 5-4 on an unassisted goal at the 12:28 mark, but one minute later, Lukehart scored an unassisted goal while Chase Peterson’s goal concluded the scoring. Sioux City had a 36-18 shots on goal advantage. Adam Suing played at goalkeeper for the Metros. The Metros will face the Omaha Junior Lancers at 10 a.m. today in the fifth place match at Urbandale’s Metro Sports Ice Arena. Omaha entered the state tournament as the No. 2 seed, but was upset 2-1 in two overtimes by Kansas City in the first round.
