Greetings to all of you!
As another regular season closes and the post
season begins, we also look forward to our showcase season. After 25
great years the Chicago Showcase has been replaced by America's Showcase
and the event has been moved to Pittsburgh. I'm honored and grateful
that Team Mid-West has decided to send a team to the showcase and has
asked myself and our staff to continue to lead the program and build off
of the momentum we ended with last year.
There are many details that we are working out,
and we wanted to share some information with you.
Tryouts for the showcase team will be held on
Sunday, March 7th from 12:00 pm-3:00 pm at Metro Ice Arena in Des Moines
Iowa. The cost to tryout is 30 dollars. Total dues and fees will be
announced at a later date, but will probably be in the $1,000 dollar
range, and that includes everything except meals in Pittsburgh.
Tryouts are open to juniors and seniors, we
will select 25 players to be rostered with 20 that travel and 5
alternates.
Practice times for the showcase team will be
held on Saturday 3/20, 3/27, 4/3, 4/10 and Sunday 4/11. All practices
are in Ames Iowa. Saturday practices are from 12:15pm to 1:45pm and from
4:15pm to 5:45pm. On Sunday April 11th we will practice once at 12:15pm.
The team will leave from Ames on April 11th or
12th together via bus.
It is required that all players traveling travel together to and from
Pittsburgh on the bus. (We are a team and will get to the event
together)
Parents can travel separate, but we are working
on an option for some parents to travel on the bus with the team if they
choose to do so. We will return late on Saturday April 17th or on Sunday
April 18th.
All players on Team Mid-West will be expected
to follow the code of conduct on and off the ice that is set forth by
our staff, and we expect our team and our players on the final roster to
be dedicated and committed to our team and making the showcase
experience a positive one.
